POLL: Former PA resident joins team of ghost hunters

Oct 31, 2013 | 12:12 PM

A former Prince Albert resident will be pulling on the overalls and power packs to hunt some ghosts.

Well maybe not that far, but Priscilla Wolf is using her journalistic expertise to help provide some research and guidance on the new series The Other Side.

“It’s a paranormal reality show, and there are four hosts,” said Wolf. “I’m First Nations, but I don’t come to the show with any kind of gifts or talents, or a background hunting ghosts, I just come as a journalist and my role on the show is researching and kind of skepticism.”

The two main hosts are Jeff Richards and Bill Connelly who both have background experience with helping people with their personal haunting issues and hunting ghosts.

Joining them will be aboriginal elder Tom Charles who is a spiritual guide.

Wolf said despite her strong connection to her aboriginal heritage she does try to find a logical explanation behind these hauntings.

“Even though I’m First Nations and grew up around the belief that there’s a spirit world, I don’t’ believe everything I hear or see,” said Wolf. “We had to learn from our own experiences to see if we trusted each other. I do believe people have gifts, but I don’t believe everyone does.”

Unlike most of the ghost hunting shows that are running, The Other Side features strictly Canadian haunts.

“The main thing is its Canadian, and from my point of view it’s the real deal, it’s the real thing,” said Wolf. “It has a First Nation spin on it; it’s going to be airing on APTN. A lot of what we look at and talk about has to do with the First Nations culture.”

Wolf, who grew up in Prince Albert with a Mistawasis background also attended a Catholic school, so she has a connection with both spiritual beliefs.

She had worked with APTN as a journalist and said she saw this opportunity come up for a researcher on the series and put in her demo.

“They called me in, they looked at my demo,” said Wolf. “They were looking for somebody in a researcher position and a female host.”

Wolf said the first season has been shot now and is ready to air, and she said her experiences on the show and hunting have given her a stronger belief in the paranormal.

“One of the things that comes up the most is that I believe in true love, and I believe that even when people do pass away they have a sense of humor and a great personality,” said Wolf. “And this is something that came across from our investigations.”

The Other Side will premiere on APTN in January and Wolf said they will be looking to expand to other networks.
