Sask. unions challenge essential services legislation in court
Scrutiny of Saskatchewan's essential services legislation begins Monday in a Regina court room as unions take on the Saskatchewan government.
The essential services legislation outlines the rules introduced by Brad Wall's government three years ago. It deems some professions too essential to strike.
Barbara Cape is president of SEIU West who argues the act is in violation of many of her members' Charter rights.
“We have never said the essential services legislation has to be scrapped completely,” said Cape.
