It is with great sadness that our family announces the unexpected passing of Zachary Robert Stephen Straughan on September 26, 2016 in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 25 years old. Zack was the loving father of London, Damon and Silas Straughan. Survived by his partner Ashley Hague and their unborn child. Beloved son of Tracey Straughan and Harold (Dawn) Straughan. His grandparents Pauline Impola (Arnold) and Joe Straughan. His siblings Cassandra Straughan (Brett Labach) and Anthony Straughan. His foster sisters Petra Nordby, Julianna Phelps, Kaylee Henderson and Sarah Sylvester. Kirsti Straughan the mother of his children. His nieces and nephews Riley Straughan, Sophia and Mason Labach. Survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins across Canada. Missed by many friends who are too numerous to mention. Predeceased by his grandparents Glorya Straughan and Alton Allen. Zachary was born in Kingston, ON on March 22, 1991 and moved to Prince Albert in 2001 with his mom and his siblings. He was active in hockey, fishing and skateboarding. Zachary was a gentle soul, and was always concerned over others well-being. He loved his kids more than life. In the past year Zachary had begun a new chapter in his life with Ashley Hague. I have never seen him as happy as he was in this past year. He was very excited about the news of the new baby. There will be a Celebration of Life Wednesday October 5 at 2pm at the East End Hall, 2nd street and 10th Ave East, Prince Albert, SK to be officiated by Reverend Rick Martin with a reception to follow. This is an open celebration for everyone whose life was touched by Zachary to attend. In lieu of flower the family requests donations to your local SPCA in Zachary’s name or to one of the GoFundMe pages that have been set up for his children, links are on his Facebook page. Thank you to all the nurses, doctors and the organ donation co-ordinator at the SICU in Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, the Winkler Police Department, the nurses of the maternity department at Victoria Hospital, my two favorite brothers who quickly arrived and helped me through my time of need, and so many others who are too many to list.
