The family of Yvette Marie Cyr (née Charlebois) sadly announce her passing on January 24, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, after a brief illness.
Yvette was born on March 19, 1934, in Marcelin, Saskatchewan, the second child of Emmanuel and Caroline Charlebois (née Boucher).
Yvette is lovingly remembered by her children: Larry Cyr (Susan), Gordon Cyr (Debra), Bonnie Paulhus (Mitch), and Colette Elhelaly (Sherif) and Shirley Dyble (Ken).
She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Natasha Dumont (Patrick), Richard Dyble (Denaka); Curtis and Shaun Cyr; James Fowler (Mary), Merissa Paulhus; Joshua Cyr (Alysha), Cody Cyr (Tara); Jim Storrie; Brittney and Cameron Vaughan; and her granddaughter by choice, Charlene Tebbutt.
She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Cody Fowler; Hayden, Alexandra, and Noah Cyr; Léa and Lane Dumont; and Colten and Lawson Dyble.
Yvette is survived by her siblings: Denis Charlebois (Carmen), Anita Schuster (Hughie), Claudette Godbout (Alva), Edouard Charlebois, Jackie Olesko (Ray), and Gerry Charlebois (Merelynn), along with her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the numerous friends she met over her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her parents Emmanuel and Caroline, her loving husband Gerald Cyr, her son-in-law James (Jim) Fowler, daughter, Shirley Dyble, her sister-in-law Theresa Charlebois, several members of her extended family, and her companions, Adrian Fidler and later, Elmer Goa, that held a special place in life and heart.
Those who had the privilege to know and love Yvette will remember and miss her dearly for her infectious laugh, quick wit, and generous heart. She had a deep love of family history and spent many years researching her ancestry long before online tools were available. Gardening was a lifelong passion, she tended full vegetable and flower gardens, taking pride in nurturing and sharing what she grew. While residing at Bellevue Care Home in St. Isidore-de-Bellevue, Saskatchewan, she continued this love by caring for the garden and helping new residents, especially those with dementia, feel at home. Her sense of humour and kindness stayed with her to the very end, including her cherished tradition of “last-touch goodbye.”
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Bellevue Care Home for the excellent care Yvette received during her time there, and a special thank you to the Dr. and nurses at Mel Miller Hospice in Edmonton for their gentle, compassionate care and support to Yvette and her family. Also, a big thank you to Cindy Gaudet for all her help and support to us.
In keeping with Yvette’s wishes, no service will be held. Internment will take place in spring/summer 2026 in Richard, Saskatchewan.
