Wolfe Helmar Lundgren
(March 19, 1932 – November 7, 2011)
Helmar passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 19, 1932 in Snowden, SK. Helmar grew up north of Smeaton, in Torch River. He obtained employment in the DNR as a heavy equipment operator, later working for the City of Prince Albert until his retirement. Helmar loved entertaining people, playing guitar, singing, telling jokes and stories. He was an inventor and an innovative thinker.
Helmar is survived by his children, Lorraine Lundgren, Sandra Lundgren (Greg Laurin) and Susan (Brent) Polowski. He is also survived by his sisters Alice (Walter) Brown of Tisdale, Ina Skiftun of McDowall, Nancy Meeds of St. Albert, AB and Margaret (John) Gariepy of Prince Albert; sister-in-law Eveline Lundgren; lifelong friend Hilda Switzer of Choiceland; his aunts Ellen Goranson and Annie Johnson and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Johan and Minnie (nee Johnson) Lundgren; his wife Janet Lundgren (nee Holtom) and his brother Lloyd Lundgren.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Val Bodnaryk. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
