Winona Ann Lancaster (nee Clunie)
September 26, 1929 – December 19, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Winona Ann Lancaster (nee Clunie). Winona was born September 26, 1929 at Wynyard, SK and passed away on December 19, 2014 at Prince Albert, SK. Winona grew up in Silver Park and Star City, SK. She achieved her education, including music (piano), voice and dance. Her many talents included; sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, skating and curling. Winona met and then married Mervyn Richard Lancaster on July 16, 1950. For 64 years they raised their family, sharing, joy/sadness, love and laughter. In 1968 the family moved to Grande Prairie, AB. Winona’s career as a teacher for 25 years, (mainly at Hillside School) allowed her to share her love of learning with many. She loved music and sang for years with the Grande Prairie Sweet Adelines. Winona found strength and support in her Church. She was a member of St. Paul’s U.C.W, the Grande Prairie Kinette Club and the Prince Albert Kinettes, where she met many friends. Winona loved to play bridge with her Wednesday afternoon ladies. One of her greatest pleasures was Waskesiu Lake. She loved to have her family and friends gather at the cabin. Winona was predeceased by her sons, Mark and Greg; her sister Gwen Holmes and her parents Christine and Doug Clunie. Winona’s love was her greatest gift to her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; daughter; son-in-law; grandchildren; great grandchildren and family. Donations in Winona’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. A Service will be held at a later date.
