It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mom and granny. Winnie passed away peacefully with her beloved husband Julian by her side at the age of 91.
Winnie was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Catherine Dernoga; her sons, Larry in infancy and Greg in 2004; her brothers, Kasper, Joseph and Edward Dernoga; her brothers-in-law, Alex Suffczynski and Nick Zazula; and her sister-in-law, Stella Armstrong.
Winnie is survived by her loving husband, Julian Shober; her sisters, Sophie Zazula and Patricia Dorman; her daughter, Debra Brown (Paul), grandson, Shaun; her daughter, Brenda Shober (Matt), granddaughter, Jennifer McLennan (Tommy), and great-grandchildren, Kealen and Emma; her granddaughter, Rechelle Pickering; daughter-in-law, Bev Shober, granddaughters, Stephanie Shober and Casey Shober; her sisters-in-law, Betty Dernoga and Lynn Dernoga; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Winnie was born in Poland and came to Canada in 1937 with her parents, Walter and Catherine, her sister, Sophie and brother, Joseph. They homesteaded in Steep Creek, SK, where the family grew adding Kasper, Edward and Patricia. Winnie married the love of her life on August 14, 1954, and they shared 70 years of marital bliss and together welcomed four children. Winnie dedicated her life to her creator, Jehovah at an early age. She looked forward to the promise quoted in Revelation 21: 3-4. Winnie always loved telling people of that promise where people can live in a beautiful paradise.
Winnie is very sadly missed by her husband Julian – “until we meet again”.
