MacDonald, William “Bill” James
Bill passed away peacefully, in Saskatoon on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the age of 92. Bill was born February 28, 1920 and raised on the family farm in the Briarlea District near Prince Albert where he attended school at the Wild Rose School. Bill was predeceased by his brother Donald MacDonald and his sisters Margeret Brooman, Marian Davis and Jessie Bernier. He is survived by his brother Norman MacDonald of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Army and with his return he worked in Prince Albert with various firms including J.R. Leach and Son and then with Saskatchewan Power in Prince Albert and Saskatoon until his retirement. Bill was a member of the Saskatoon Elks Lodge and was very active in the Saskatoon Legion Branch No.63 where he was a life member. Bill was a long time resident of the Baraka Care Home in Saskatoon and recently Extendicare. The family would like to extend their thanks for the special care provided by owners and staff at both homes. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at the Saskatoon Legion Branch No. 63, 606 Spadina Crescent West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 1P1 on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Veterans Honours will be conveyed.
