William (Bill) Norman

William (Bill) Norman, late of rural Prince Albert passed away on October 21st, 2024 at the age of 86. Bill was born January 4th, 1938 in Prince Albert, Sk and grew up in rural Prince Albert. He married Mary Cochrane on April 5th, 1958 and they raised a family of four boys.
Bill joined the air Force at a young age and later on he and the family spent three years in France returning to Canada to Cold Lake, Alberta serving in the Forces. He later returned to Prince Albert and was employed at Saskatchewan Penitentiary and also took over the family farm. Bill always enjoyed animals and could really bond well with them. He trained Collies into being sheep dogs. He had cattle, Sheep and lamas. He was involved in sports and enjoyed watching his boys play ball and hockey. He retired from the Penitentiary and then was able to farm full time. He and Mary were involved in the Heritage Centre and Bill served as President for 18 years. A highlight was being Mr. & Mrs. Winter Festival in 2011. Bill enjoyed playing cards, reminiscing and storytelling.
Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary and his son Doug (Marcey): grandchildren Zachery, Ryan, Tyler, Rebecca and Kristi; his sister and brother-in-law Beatrice (Jerry) Nelson, sister Florence Bowman; brother-in-law Dale and his wife Darlene; sisters-in-law Hazel Cochrane and Jewel Cochrane.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Beatrice Norman, his father and mother-in-law James & Beatrice Cochrane; his sons Darrell, Kevin and Stephen; his sister and brother-in-law Peggy (Ed) Dodge; brother-in-law Lee Bowman; his sister Ann Doran; brothers-in-law James Cochrane and Ernie Cochrane; brother and sister-in-law Lorne (Sterling) Cochrane and sister-in-law Pearl Kvalnes.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Mackenzie Chapel, 130 – 9th street East, Prince Albert, SK.
