A memorial service will be held for Wilfrid Rudy at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Grace Mennonite Church, 250 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK, following a private interment at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Wilfrid Rudy passed away peacefully at Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home on December 29, 2015, at the age of 85. Wilfrid was born near Fisher’s Mill, Waterloo County, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Ada (Snyder) Rudy, his sisters, Anna (Homer) Burkhart, Margaret (Melvin) Bearinger and Lucile (Jesse) Markle, his brother, Howard (Irma) and their children, Nancy, Phyllis and Walter, and his sister-in-law, Helen (Arthur) Rudy. He is survived by his dear brother Arthur Rudy of Waterloo, ON. Beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews in Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, Wilfrid is also remembered by his friend Henry Hiebert. Wilfrid enjoyed his career as a librarian in several provinces after attaining a library science degree at University of Toronto. As a tenor soloist and chorister, Wilfrid enjoyed his passion for singing with many church and community choirs, including the male voice chorus of Prince Albert. Wilfrid moved to Prince Albert in 1988 where he enjoyed his retirement. He relocated to Rosthern, SK, after his health deteriorated. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the kind and caring staff of Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home, the Rosthern Mennonite Home for the Aged, Rosthern Homecare, and the Nelson Care Home in Prince Albert. Donations in memory of Wilfrid can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee Canada (mcccanada.ca) or MCC Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel, 306-764-2727, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director.
