Wilfred Norman Craig passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the age of 94. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Victoria, daughters Gwen (Tim), Shelley, Cheryl, and son Gary (Andrea), and granddaughter Megan. He was predeceased by his siblings Claud, Lillian and Marilyn. Wilfred began his career as a cook for his mother’s restaurant in Kitchen, SK, where he acquired his love of cooking and baking. As a young man he joined the army for two years. Wilfred then moved to Fort William in Thunder Bay, ON to work in an aircraft factory, building the Curtiss Dive Bomber. He moved back to the small town Lintlaw, SK to build Craig’s Furniture and Grocery store with his brother Claud. Victoria his wife worked by his side. Wilfred spent most of his life in Prince Albert, SK. In 1959 his sales career continued to the Niagara Massage Company, where he was awarded top salesman in North America, and was awarded a diamond studded watch at a convention in Calgary, AB. As a visionary thinker and a believer of healthy living, he began his new career as a marketer and salesmen of flour mills for Lee Sales in 1965. Wilfred retired at the age of 58. He and Victoria moved to Calgary, AB in 2012 to be closer to the family. Wilfred was a man that always loved to meet new people. With his quick sense of humor, his interesting stories he enjoyed socializing with others while drinking a cup of coffee. Though outspoken, Wilfred was still a very sensitive man. He loved nothing more than helping others no matter who they were. He was the man that would lend a hand, or ear to listen to anyone in need. Wilfred always loved to look sharp and would wear his suit and tie every day. His favorite hobby was gardening and watching the seeds that he planted grow into strong healthy plants. Wilfred was a big animal lover, and he especially loved dogs, but most of all, he had a very deep love for his family and kept them close. His loving, humorous, and honest personality will be missed in the world. Wilfred was a man that was easy to love and hard to forget. Dad will forever live in our memories and hearts. He will always be missed by his family and friends. The Family will greet friends on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 12:45 p.m. at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) and then proceed to Queen’s Park Cemetery for a Graveside Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SPCA, 4455 – 110 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Suite 200-325 Manning Rd N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
