Wendy Kennedy (nee McKeand) of the White Star Disctict, Saskatchewan passed away on October 12, 2019 at Royal University Hospital after a short illness.
She was born to Robert and Hazel McKeand in 1958 and resided in White Star her entire life. She is survived by her children, Chrystal (Brett), Kim (Cory) and Rob and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kenzie, Abby and Presley. She is also survived by her sister Donna (Chris), brother Brian (Brenda), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her dad Robert, her mom Hazel and her brother Bob.
Wendy was an astounding baker, prolific gardener, avid reader and jack-of-all-trades. Her penchant to continually learn new things equipped her with a book in one hand and any number of tools in the other. All of her many gifts and talents were only outshone by her giving, caring nature. It was her nature that fueled her passion for upholding patient dignity and fighting for employee rights as a shop steward for the local CUPE union.
As a child, her Dad inspired her love for the outdoors. The outdoors called to Wendy. Leisure time found Wendy donning a fishing rod, a golf club, a water tube and even a snow tube.
Her connection to family was deep. She intensely sought to understand her history and heritage through genealogy. She felt deeply connected to her siblings and children, but also to her aunties, uncles and cousins. Family extended well beyond blood as she cared so passionately for her friends and those she met inside and outside of work.
A Come and Go Celebration of Wendy’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, 1 – 3 pm at the Spruce Home Activity Centre (Trail Riders Arena), Spruce Home, SK.
