Sidney Wayne Turner
(April 4, 1947 – August 7, 2011)
Wayne was the seventh child of Lawrence and Jennie (Hyggen) Turner born on April 4, 1947. He passed away on August 7, 2011 after 20 days of being in ICU at the Victoria Hospital fighting bravely for his life, but there were too many strikes against him for him to succeed.
Wayne took his schooling in Weldon until he decided that it was time to go out into the work force. He was always a very hard worker and worked in various jobs in both Saskatchewan and Alberta. Most of his employment was as a truck driver hauling pulpwood, where he was involved in two very serious accidents; the first was in 1974 where he lost his spleen along with contacting Hepatitis from the blood transfusion (unknown to him that it was Hep C) and again in 1980 this time losing sight in his left eye. Both accidents were of no fault of his, but that never stopped him, since work was all he knew. His last job was working for Broda at Key Lake. He loved working in the North and was hoping to be able to go again this fall but it was not meant to be.
He met his soul mate Connie Powers on May 17, 1974 and they later married on July 28, 1979. Together they had two girls Tanya Dawn in 1984 and Jamie Lynn in 1988. They were the centre of his universe, and there was not a thing he was not willing to do for them. He was so proud of his two girls and that pride really showed Oct 9, 2010 when he gave his daughter Tanya away at her wedding and he felt that she could not have made a better choice, he loved and respected Randy from day one.He always loved the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or snowmobiling and later quading.
Wayne and Tanya spent a lot of weekends on poker rallies starting the end of Jan – March. Then in the summer the family along with their very good friends Gaylen and Lynn Torgunrud would go quading all over the forestry. He could hardly wait for the weekends to come because that meant family and friends which meant the world to him.
Wayne leaves behind his wife of 32 years Connie (Powers) Turner; his daughters Tanya (Randy) Wojcichowsky and Jamie Turner; his pets Benji, Smokey, Zeus and Molson; his mother-in-law Queenie Powers; his brothers Fred ( Doris) Turner, Lyle Turner and Kennedy (Louise) Turner; his sisters Lorraine Ewen, Marilyn (John) Davies and Shirley Sjodin; his brother-in-law Jack (Margeriet) Powers; his sister-in-law Jean (John) Moore; his uncle Lloyd Hyggen; his aunts-in-law Judy (Barry) Gross and Beverly (Lorne) Powers and various nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Jennie (Hyggen) Turner; his brother Larry Dale; his sister Vivian Fiddler; his father-in-law Carl Powers; his grandparents John (Agnes) Turner and Martin (Laura) Hyggen; his great niece Chelsey Townsend and numerous aunts and uncles.
