Wayne Edward Temple
May 10, 1930 – December 25, 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wayne Temple on Christmas Day. Wayne’s employment started with farming on the family farm in Carrot River, SK in the early 1950’s. In 1955, while in Carrot River he also began to pursue an additional career with Beaver Lumber. Wayne soon became Store Manager and realized he wanted to expand his potential in the lumber business. In 1970 he took a transfer opportunity to a larger store and moved his family to Beaver Lumber, Meadow Lake. He stayed in Meadow Lake until 1972 and then moved to Prince Albert after being offered the Prince Albert branch. During his time in Prince Albert, Wayne was able to purchase his store and franchise it in 1980, which he then owned and operated until his retirement in 1990. During their retirement in 1990 Wayne and Marg purchased a home in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed their winters, returning in April each year to their summer homes at Emma Lake and La Ronge. Wayne was also very active with the Rotary Club of Prince Albert and in Mesa, Arizona. Wayne also acted as President for one term. He and his fellow Rotarians constructed and sailed the York Boat which is still on display near the Tourist Information Centre on Highway 2 South. While being a member he was involved in many local fundraisers, such as the annual Lobster Fest. Wayne’s interests and hobbies were carpentry, golf, playing crib, and landscape painting. He always enjoyed watching sports on TV, such as curling, golf and baseball. Wayne will be dearly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter Beverly Temple and his 3 sons Vernon (Wendy) Temple, Dale (Evelyn) Temple and Robert (Marie) Temple; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Marjorie; his parents Peter Franklin Temple and Frances (Putara) Temple; his brother Glen Temple; his sister Marian Lundden; and his great grandson Kevin Temple. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Alliance Church, 2777 – 6th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Mark Bergen and Pastor Vern Temple officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
