1940 – 2013
Wayne Franklin McDowell was born on May 2, 1940 at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert, the eldest child of Aileen and Alex McDowell. Wayne played ball for over 50 years up to the age of 65. He worked in the Automotive business for many years, both here and in Sherwood Park, he owned and operated the Timber Cove Trading Post just south of Montreal Lake, and ran a tow truck from there for many years. Wayne always enjoyed Emma Lake, boating and fishing. He was a member of the Lakeland Lions for over 25 years. Wayne passed away on Dec 5, 2013 at the age of 73 following a lengthy and debilitating medical condition. He is survived by his son Bradley McDowell; daughter-in-law Trudy; grandsons Brody and Brady; his sisters Madeline Taylor (Arne Petersen), Deryk Taylor, Lisa (Garth) Kaglea, Whitney, Chelsey and Courtney Kaglea; Sharon Miller, Renee Miller (Wayne Leslie), Ron Miller (Brenda Clarke), Kathy (Rob) Hanson, Clint (Alyssa), Cody; Nancy (Gord) Demers, Chris, Lindsay Prodaehl (Theron), Gage, Tucker, Blakely; Evan Demers (Courtney Braaten) and long time friend George Taylor (Jeanette Earring). He was predeceased by his son Douglas and both parents. We would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to all the staff and residents of the Herb Bassett Care Home who helped make these last few years of Wayne’s life full of caring and love. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Andrew Hoskin officiating. In lieu of other tributes, the family request donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Research c/o RUH Foundation, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8.
