Вічная пам’ять (Vichnaya pamiat) Eternal Memory
Wasyl “Bill” Karpish was born on Thursday, December 27, 1928, in the Honeymoon District, SK, and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Prince Albert, SK. Bill was the third child of Samuel and Johanna Karpish (Palidwar) and coming from the large extended Palidwar family, he enjoyed many family and community functions.
Community and his Ukrainian culture were a large part of his life. His faith was strong and he was active in the church in Honeymoon and Prince Albert. He belonged to the Ukrainian Veselka choir and various Ukrainian organizations. He was very social and enjoyed volunteering at the Ukrainian booth selling bread at the exhibition grounds and selling tickets for the men’s club. Some of the activities he enjoyed include fishing, playing cards and bowling.
In addition to farming he held various positions including logging near Flin Flon with his brother Peter, Milk Man, Culligan’s, Beaver Lumber and the Prince Albert Exhibition, before retiring.
He remained on the family farm in Honeymoon until he married Nancy Briere, and they moved to Prince Albert. Bill had very fond memories of their time together and with her family. Reminiscing of their travels would bring a big smile to his face.
His siblings include, Mary (Frank) Zbaraschuk, Peter (Sophie) Karpish, Iris (Steve) Wasylenko, Lucy (Sam) Hiadachuk, Olga (Nick) Parchomuk, Helen (Tom) Denysuik and Bud (Olga) Karpish. While all his siblings remained closely connected, Bill was the remaining brother and in their later years, he and his sisters shared a special bond. He was also a very special person to his nieces and nephews and large extended family and friends. He was loyal, respectful and always ready to share a joke.
The Prayer Service for Bill will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the River Park Funeral Home Chapel.
