WARREN ALEXANDER REID
The family of Warren Reid is saddened to announce that he passed away on March 31, 2020 at the age of 102. He was born to Robert and Jane Ann (Davidson) Reid on October 25, 1917. Warren lived most of his life on the family farm just outside Crystal Springs, SK. and farmed with his brothers for many years.
Warren married Daisy Ellison on August 23, 1948, and their only child, Dan, was born in 1950. There was a strong bond between father and son, and Warren passed along his jack-of-all-trades skills, and also his sense of humor, to Dan. He was thrilled when his two grandsons were born, and enjoyed spending time with them, especially working on projects at the farm like building a tree house, making gigantic snow monsters, and racing soap-box cars.
Warren had a great sense of humor. Anyone who knew him was sooner or later treated to one of his practical jokes or was fooled into believing one of his stories until he got to the punch line. He enjoyed spending time with his family during summers at Waskesiu and in earlier years Warren was well-known for his roller-skating skills at the roller rink there.
By the end of 2010, Warren was no longer able to live on his own at the farm so moved into a seniors’ apartment in Birch Hills. In 2013 he became a resident of the Bellevue Care Home at Bellevue, and four years later he moved to Goodwill Manor at Duck Lake, SK.
Warren was predeceased by his parents, by his wife Daisy in 2009, and his son, Dan in 2018, his brothers and sisters-in-law Earl (Josephine) Reid, Art (Evelyn) Reid, Lewis (Agnes) Reid, and Roy (Vergie) Weatherbee. He is lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Jean, grandsons Rob (Dawn) Reid and Rick Reid, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Thank you to the staff at both the Bellevue care home and Goodwill Manor for their kindness and all the excellent care they provided for Warren. Interment will be in the Crystal Springs Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium Brian and Bev Stobbs, Renée Phaneuf – Funeral Directors. www.MacKenzieChapel.ca . 306.763.8488.
