Walter William Wasylyshyn
April 24, 1930 – September 27, 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Wasylyshyn announces his passing on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Walter passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side, at the Vic Hospital in Prince Albert after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Walter was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 24 1930. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Katherine. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Marjorie; children, Connie (Dave ) Thomson, Don (Shelley) Wasylyshyn, Peggy (Ken) Charbonneau, Wayne (Laurie Heroux) Wasylyshyn; grandchildren, Crystal (Brad), Courtney, Christopher, James, Austin, Jill, Karey, Taylor, Madison and Jaden; and two great grandchildren; Abigail and Oliver. Walter is also survived by his sisters, Helen (Bill) Kostiuk, Phyllis Wasylyshyn, Eleanor (Ray) Cote and brother Buddy (Pat) Wasylyshyn. Our special thanks are extended to Walter’s very close friends Marvin and Joan Erickson, and Barry and Sharon McInnerney, for all of their support and friendship during Walters final days. Another special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Vic Hospital for their warmth and compassion. A prayer service will be held at St.George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at St.George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that monetary donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Irwin Hawryluk at Hawryluk Funeral Home, 306-922-6611.
