Walter “Wally” John Kaye
August 21, 1925 – December 8, 2016
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grandpa and Great -Grandfather. He was ‘Uncle Wally’ to so many people in his life. He passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK, with his family around him. Wally is survived by his son David (Valerie) and their children Michael (Kori), Brittney (Ryan) and Brooklyn as well as having 3 great grandchildren Everett, Benson and Luca, along with a step-daughter, Debra (Jim) Palmer and family. Wally also has one sister Anne Barton of Prince Albert and her children Marvin (Dorothy) Barton and Donna (Les) Wessel also from Prince Albert. Wally was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia in 2013, his mother: Marjorie; and his father: Mike. Wally was employed as a salesman for Grosser and Glass for over forty years. He was a ‘people person’, who was always so friendly to all. This job allowed him to build many friendships over the years. He was very active in numerous clubs in Prince Albert. He was a life member of the Prince Albert Elks Club, being a member since 1956. He was also a member of the Association of Canadian Travelers (ACT) since 1953 and a Cosmo Club member for years volunteering numerous hours to different events and charities. Wally enjoyed his time at his farm in Henribourg for over 35 years before selling and retiring in Prince Albert. He made many trips to Hawaii. Soon Pat and him found a favorite spot there that they loved going to with a regular group of friends. He also enjoyed his summer days at his cottage at Emma Lake where he tried to visit weekly, usually on the weekend. You could generally find him sitting in his rocking chair or on the deck enjoying the view of the lake with a Crown beverage, children, grandchildren and wonderful neighbors next to him. Our ‘Big Papa” was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all. Our trips to Prince Albert and Emma Lake will now have a big void that can never be filled. Wally loved life to the fullest and was blessed to live independently in his home until he entered the hospital on October 25 up until he was 91 years! We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the staff in the ICU department and 5th floor of the Victoria Hospital for making Dad’s stay as comfortable as it could been with their kindness and compassion. God Bless you all! A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 – 11:00 am at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel , 130-9th St E, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Wally may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 11 St E, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Tracy-Lynn Switzer, Funeral Directors. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488
