Walter George Charles
(April 1, 1928 – September 30, 2011)
Walter George Charles, late of Prince Albert, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the age of 83 years.
Born in Togo, SK on April 1, 1928, Walter spent his childhood in Durban, MB. After attending school, Walter joined the Canadian Navy as a Wireless Operator, serving time during the Korean Conflict. Following that, he continued working in communications with the CNR in Winnipeg, Regina, and settling in Prince Albert.
Along with his loving wife Joyce, Walter is survived by his son Bob (Dulcie) and their children Christina and Anne; his daughter Lynn (Lloyd) and their children Jessica and Adam; his sisters Gwen, Mabel and Irine; and his brothers Bert and Fred.
A Celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m., at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 – 9th Street East, Prince Albert. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Walter had requested that friends and family so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, at 104, 2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5, or a charity of their choice.
