MR. WALTER ANDREW BASARABA
1935 – 2014
Walter Andrew Basaraba (The Candy Man), husband of Annette Marie, reunited with his gal up in heaven on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the age of 79 years. He was born August 5, 1935, in Foxford, Saskatchewan. He enjoyed making people laugh and smile with his great sense of humor and warm hearted personality. Walter was a strong, proud man who developed a special appreciation for his children, grandchildren and friends. He always had a joke to tell, a smile to give and a couple candies to share. He worked for Weyerhaeuser, as a heavy duty equipment operator, until his retirement in 1996. Dad spent every summer at the lake where his fire was always a-blazing, welcoming family and friends to sit around and visit. Walter had a passion for picking mushrooms and berries, playing horseshoes, and fishing. Once winter hit, he would spend his days going down to see the coffee crew and walk around the mall, where he made friendships and touched the hearts of many. He also enjoyed watching sports for hours on the television. Walter was predeceased by: his wife Annette Basaraba; his son Brian Basaraba; his granddaughter Michelle Basaraba; his great grandson Logan Lanoie; his parents Nick and Annie Basaraba ; his in-laws Joseph and Mary Vermette; his eight brothers and six sisters.
