Walter Alko Madraga
August 2, 1930 – June 9, 2014
Walter passed away on June 9, 2014 with his family by his side. Walter was born on August 2, 1930 to Alex and Katie Madraga. He was the third child born to a family of six. He lived on the family farm in the Wakaw area, until they relocated to a farm near Birch Hills. He got married in 1955 and relocated to a farm near Waitville, moving again a mile north where he resided until the early 90’s and then relocated to the town of Birch Hills. Walter was a grain farmer and also had livestock. He lived his life to the fullest in the fast lane. He loved to dance and would not miss a Saturday night dance no matter where he was or how far he had to travel. He loved family functions and would usually be the entertainer in some way! Walter is survived by his children: Leila (Elmer Boyer) Rosteski, Brenda (Peter) Deppeler, Darren (Kim) Madraga, Kevin (Lee-Ann) Madraga and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his brother Mike (Evelyn) Madraga; sisters-in-law Maryann Madraga and Olga Madraga; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Katie Madraga; his sisters Stella Hanson and Mary Shewchuk and his brothers George and Stanley Madraga. The family would like to thank the staff on the 6th Floor of the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for the exceptional compassionate care and support. We would also like to thank the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge Nursing Home for the care they provided. The Funeral will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Lake Park Baptist Church, Birch Hills, SK with Pastor Brian Langendoen officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Dementia (Alzheimer) Society of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550- 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
