Vivian Melba Hunter
(October 3, 1916 – November 5, 2011)
In loving memory Vivian Melba Hunter, October 3, 1916 to November 5, 2011. Vivian passed away peacefully at South Okanagan General Hospital, Oliver, BC after a short illness. She was in her 96th year. Vivian was born in Dryden, ON to John and Ethel Wice. Dryden was her home for most of her life. At 75 years of age, she and Norman moved to Birch Hills, SK then six years ago moved to Oliver, BC.
She was predeceased by her sister Rubena and husband Carl Swanson, brothers and sisters-in-law John & Lois Hunter, Thelma & Wilf Newhouse, Elsie & Jim Edwards, Lula & Elmer Wice and Margaret Hablichek. Vivian leaves behind Norman, her husband of almost 70 years; a son, John (Rachelle) of Peterborough ON and daughter, Melba (Bruce) McGeachy of Oliver, BC; brother and sister-in-law, Ken & Edna Hunter and brother-in-law John Hablichek of Birch Hills, SK as well as many nieces and nephews.
Music was a big part of her life and she served many years as church organist at First Baptist Church, Dryden. Before retirement she and Norman operated Hunter Bus Lines. Her years spent in Saskatchewan were happy ones as she enjoyed being part of the Crystal Springs Senior Centre and Lake Park Baptist Church.
A memorial service was held at Valley Congregational Church on Wednesday, 9 November 2011. Contributions in her memory may be made to The Gideons, PO Box 3619, Guelph, ON N1G 7A2.
