SAVISKY, Violet “Vi” Michalena passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, SK, on the early morning of June 6, 2015, with her family by her side. Vi was born at Cudworth, SK, and at an early age moved to Prince Albert with her family. She attended school at King George and PACI. In her younger years she was very active in sports, and was a member of the PA Chicks fastball team. In 1967 she married Wilf and they were blessed with two daughters, Valerie and Charlene. Vi was employed as a secretary with the Sask. Department of Social Services and the University of Regina. Due to deterioration of health and the need to raise her family, Vi became a homemaker. Christmas, Easter and birthdays were of utmost importance to her. She enjoyed all the friends and musicians that came to their home for jam sessions, sometimes until the early hours of the morning. Vi was always a Raider fan, and when she could no longer attend games, would listen to them on the radio. She was well known in the community and made almost daily trips to Harold’s IGA in her prized red jeep. Vi was a very solid person, possessing an uncanny memory even in the later stages of her illness. Violet is survived by her husband Wilf; her daughters Valerie (Murray) Middlebrook and Charlene (Tim) May; her granddaughters Raelee and Ciara Middlebrook; her sister Roseline (Jack) Cowan; her brother Jim (Luci) Glabus; her sisters-in-law Leona (Late Ernie) Podolecki, Leona (Late Moe) Podolecki and Geraldine (Alex) Denesyk; her mother-in-law Suzy Savisky; as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, and many grand-dogs and cats. Violet was predeceased by her parents Mike and Mary Podolecki; her brothers Ernie and Moe Podolecki; her sister Elsie Karras; her father-in-law John Savisky; and her nephew Kevin Denesyk. Gathering for family and friends will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the residence of Wilf Savisky, 1128 Wyllie Crescent. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Ches Jacobs officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Intensive Care Unit, 1200 – 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4.
