VIOLET FOUQUETTE
1924 – 2016
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Violet was born on August 9, 1924 in the Windsor Lake District and passed away on October 24, 2016 at Whispering Pines Place in Canwood, SK at the age of 92 years. The smell of homemade bread and cinnamon buns was one of many aromas coming from her kitchen. Mom loved her garden, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, violin music, dancing and sports, whether attending her grandchildren’s sporting events or cheering loudly for her favorite Blue Jay’s idol, Bautista (aka PIZZA) while wearing his jersey with pride. At the young age of ninety, Mom developed a talent for painting with the encouragement of a special friend, Alicia. She was very proud of her accomplishments and wanted to share her pictures with all of her family and friends. Violet is survived by her loving family: her three daughters, Doreen (Lanny) Branter of Nanaimo, Lana (Gordon) Horricks of Shellbrook, and Linda (Duane) Stroeder of Shellbrook; her daughter-in-law, Karen Fouquette of Wetaskiwin; her twelve grandchildren, Kurtis (Jessica) Fouquette of Devon, Jennifer (David Calder) Fouquette of Toronto, David (Gail) Fox of Saskatoon, Kathryn Lee of Battleford, Barbara (Bob) Nienaber of Vermilion, Stacey (Graeme Reed) Horricks of Toronto, Michael (Randi) Horricks of Shellbrook, Adam Horricks of Shellbrook, Kerrie Horricks of Toronto, Shaunna (Matt) Wealleans of Calgary, Greg (Rachelle) Yuzik of Calgary, and Travis Stroeder of Shellbrook; her great-grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Meaghan, Brennan, Brett, Janay, Julia, Matthew, Lauryn, Beckett, Arya, Annika, Bria and Olive; and one brother, Lucienne (Jeanette) Lamontagne of Blaine Lake. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Emile; her only son, George; two sisters, Rita and Ida; and one brother, Henry; since Mom’s passing she has also lost a sister, Mary Rose. Mom will be missed by all her family and friends. Violet’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church, 112 2nd Avenue East, Shellbrook, Father Tru officiating. Interment of cremated remains to follow at the Garden of the Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic Church, Shellbrook, SK S0J 2E0 or to Whispering Pine Place, Canwood, SK S0J 0K0. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home in Prince Albert, SK, 306-764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
