Victor Russin

Victor Russin age 83, passed away suddenly but peacefully on January 2, 2015 with family by his side.
Victor started his life in Shellmouth, Manitoba going to school and helping on the farm. Realizing farming was not for him he tried his hand at teaching, which he did briefly. He started his career at IHC in Langenburg, SK, when he was 20 years old. A job opportunity moved him to Tisdale, SK where he worked as a parts manager.
Victor loved sports, hockey and golf especially. The years in Tisdale he coached hockey (Bantam and Midget) teaching the boys a game he loved, and he recorded his two Holes in one on the Tisdale Golf Course. Here is also where he met his wife Marie.
He then moved with his family one last time to Melfort, SK. He was parts manager for Gibson IH and Gordon Case IH for thirty more years. In Melfort he also coached hockey (Bantam, Midget and Junior B).
He was presented with a lifetime membership at the Melfort Golf and Country Club and he was also very proud to have helped build the cement post and wire fence that surrounds the course to this day.
Victor was predeceased by his father, mother, step-mother, a brother and a sister, two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, a nephew-in-law and his loving wife Marie.
Victor is survived and lovingly remembered by his 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way), 2 brothers and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although he did not follow the path of teaching, Vic continued to teach every day of his life whether he knew it or not.
He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, Melfort. The Celebrant for Mass was Father Nick Ferreras and the interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
