Vera Louise Miller

Vera Louise Miller passed away peacefully at the Birchview Nursing Home in Birch Hills, SK on January 10, 2015 at the age of 106 years. Vera was born on August 7, 1908 on her father’s homestead north of Kinistino, SK, the eldest child of Rudolph and Caroline (Plant) Dahl. She attended school in Roosevelt, Norden and Viking districts. Vera married James “Jim” Miller in 1934 and they lived in Humboldt. In 1939 they sold their business and moved to their farm at Brancepeth, SK. In 1964 their son purchased the farm and they retired to Birch Hills. They spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona. Vera enjoyed curling, carpet bowling and lapidary (making rock tables and jewellery). She was also a member of the United Church Women and the Senior Recreation Club. Vera will be lovingly remembered by: her son Lorne (Mary) Miller; her grandchildren Beverley (Brent) Fenner and children Shannon Nichol (Pat Hollock) and her children Emma and Myaah; David Nichol; Shaun and his daughter Brittney; Sheryl (Robert Elash); Ronald (Marion) Miller and children Rebecca, Michael, Rachel and Roselin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband James “Jim” Miller; her parents Rudolph and Caroline (Plant) Dahl; her brothers Gordon, Marshall and Leslie; her sisters Ina (Alvin) Gorby, Fern (Ken) McInnes and Beulah (Harry) Bell and stepsister Bertha (Irving) Perry. Vera’s family would like to thank the staff at the Birchview Nursing Home for the excellent care she received over the many years she was a resident. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Birchview Nursing Home Auxiliary, Box 578, Birch Hills, SK or to a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
