It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Vera Davidson of Moose Jaw, SK. Vera is survived by her husband of 62 years, Johnnie (John Richie Davidson). She is also survived by her daughter, Joan (Don Pikaluk) of Prince Albert, SK and her son, Donald (Kathleen) of Calgary, AB. She was a proud and involved grandmother of five grandchildren: Shaun (Marie) Pikaluk of Prince Albert, Ryan Pikaluk of Winnipeg, Brendan (Madison) Pikaluk of Battleford, Haley Ann and Shelby Ann Davidson of Calgary. Vera was the only child of William and Mary Ann Cuthbert of England. Vera was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. As a child, she travelled by train and then boat, visited and lived in England as a young child with her family, having her 6th birthday there. Vera moved to Prince Albert in 1942 where she attended P.A. Business College, preparing for a career in Stenography and Bookkeeping with Sherwin Williams Paint Company. It was here, in Prince Albert, that she met Johnnie and married on August 7th, 1950. In September 1969, Vera and Johnnie moved to Moose Jaw with their two children. Vera had worked outside the home until this time and was able to rely on her own mother to care for Donald and Joan. Vera was a strong woman caring for her home and children as Johnnie worked out of town often. After moving to Moose Jaw, Vera was able to stay home where she enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and doing fancy work for her family. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Vera was always involved with her church. She raised her family with strong faith and Christian values and mirrored these values to her grandchildren. Vera had an adventurous and fun side which prompted her to travel to the U.S. (never in a plane of course) often by car or motor home with her family. She enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Emma Lake with her children and grandchildren. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will take place on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at St. David’s Anglican Church in Prince Albert, SK at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5th, 2012 with Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will follow at South Hill Cemetery in Prince Albert, SK. For our friends and family, there will be a Celebration of Vera’s Life at Trinity United Church, 277 Iroquois St. W., Moose Jaw, SK on Monday, November 12th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Thomson officiating. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sandra Rayson, of Regina for her special attention in our time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vera’s name to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, c/o Pasqua Hospital 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
