With broken hearts the family of Valerie Rabbitskin announces that she passed away on September 17, 2019. She was born on July 27, 1977 to Arthur and Kathleen (nee: Sahpahsum) Rabbitskin of Big River First Nation.

The wake service for Valerie started at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Big River First Nation Band Hall.  Her funeral service began at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the same place with the Elders officiating. A funeral mass was held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 PM with Michael Fahlman officiating. Interment followed in the Big River First Nation Catholic Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were all who knew and loved Valerie. Active pallbearers were Berton Morin, Matthew Ernest, Donald Wayne McAdam, James John Bear, Peter Bear and Jeremy Lachance.

Valerie is lovingly remembered by: her children, Percy Rabbitskin and his children, Percy Jr., Richard, Kathleen and William, Tina Smallboy (Matthew Ernest) and their children, Bruno and Brayzlee Dora Smallboy (Skye Lasas), Kerri Smallboy and Bailey Partridge; her siblings, Richard Rabbitskin (Peggy), Darcy Rabbitskin and his son, Joseph Hunt, Jennifer Netmaker and her 7 children and Richard Netmaker and his 3 children; her nephews and nieces, Andrew, Anthony, Chelsea, Verna Canapotato; 11 great nephews and nieces; her stepfather, John Rabbitskin as well as numerous other relatives. She is predeceased by: her common-law husband, Larry Smallboy; her daughter, Gina and 2 premature infants; her parents, Arthur and Kathleen Rabbitskin and her brothers, Dennis, Percy and Arthur.
