Tomas Iradi

June 4^th 1947 – July 28^th 2026

Tomas was born in Usurbil, Spain on June 4^th, 1947, to Marcos and Francisca. He was born the 8^th of 9 sons. Tomas’ first language was Basque. As a young boy the government wouldn’t allow Basque spoken outside the home, so Tomas had to learn Spanish. Tomas had a very heavy accent and at times was hard to understand but English was his third language.

He came to Canada in the late 70’s to work for the Prince Albert Pulp Mill as a skidder operator. While Tomas was working in the bush, he fell off the skidder and broke his hip. After a few surgeries he could no longer work on the skidder and became a kitchen helper in the logging camp.

In the early 80’s Tomas was living in Saskatoon where he became a Canadian citizen. He was very proud of becoming a Canadian. Tomas really loved meeting people and laughing and joking with them. One of Tomas’ favorite things to do was playing crib. His buddy Oscar would come over, and they would play crib for hours. He really enjoyed helping people out whenever he could and never expected anything in return. In 1992 he moved back to Prince Albert and lived with an old friend Santiago. Tomas eventually bought his own house and settled down. He returned to Spain a few times to visit family. In 1994 Tomas and his partner Sheila went to Spain and married.  When they returned to Canada, they had a small gathering with family and friends. Later that year Tomas and Sheila welcomed their son Tomas Jr.   Tomas and Sheila separated in 1999 and remained close friends, raising their son together. Tomas will be missed by the Andrews family and the many friends he made over the years in Canada.

Tomas is survived by his only son Tomas Marcos Iradi; the mother of his son and good friend Sheila Andrews; three sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews in Spain.

He was predeceased by his parents, Marcos and Francisca; and his 8 brothers, Antonio, Hilario, Javier, Jose, Guillermo, Juan Maria, and 2 in infancy

Tomas Jr. is having a Celebration of Life for his father at East End Hall, 205 10^th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK on August 22, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Everyone that knew Tomas is welcome.
