Thomas “Tom” Power, beloved husband of Sandra of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the age of 62 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sandra; his son Geoffrey (Courtney) and their daughters, Jazmyn and Brynnin and grandson on the way; his daughter Shauna (Michael McKee) and Mikhail and his special dog, Molly. He is also survived by his mother, Marion Power; his sisters Shirley (Don) Barnes, Helen (Francois) Rivest and Pat Power; his mother and father-in-law, Cliff & Sharon Head; his sister-in-law Valerie (Wayne) Gouldhawke; his brother-in-law Ron Head; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father, Jim Power in 1998. Tom was born in Prince Albert on November 22, 1949. He graduated from P.A. Technical Institute in 1968. He was employed with the Government of Saskatchewan at Department of Natural Resources, Dept. of Social Services (North Park Centre) and the Department of Highways. After 39 years of government service he retired in May 2009. Tom was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and enjoyed watching the first games of this season with his son, Geoff. Tom enjoyed attending the horse races at Marquis Downs in Saskatoon and had hoped to attend the Kentucky Derby one day. He also enjoyed spending countless summer days at their family cottage, POWERS HAPPY OURS, at Sunnyside Beach, Emma Lake where he served on the Board of Directors of the Sunnyside Co-op and in the last three years served as President. He loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. We will greatly miss his love, support, humour and encouragement. He was always there to help with anything and everything. We will forever have his memories and he will be forever in our hearts. We invite all who wish to celebrate his life to join us at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Andrew Hoskin officiating. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
