It is with profound sadness as a family, to announce that Thomas Edwin Laird passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 20, 2022 at the age of 72.
Tom was predeceased by his mother Geraldine Laird in 2019 and by his granddaughter Maria Lloyd in 2006.
Tom will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his father Edwin Laird; his wife Donna; his daughter Tracie Lloyd (Bryan) and granddaughter Blaze; his two sons Thomas (Alyssa) and David; his brother Grant (Arlette); his sister Geri-Lynn Sauer (Wayne) and his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. Growing up he loved to play hockey and football and going to Emma Lake. He worked hard and truly enjoyed his career at Sasktel, Navigata and Mariner. From a young age Tom loved cars and it had been a passion ever since, especially rebuilding them, and being a member of the Saskatchewan British Car Club. After retiring he took up horseback riding lessons at Beaver Creek Ranch – a beloved pastime – and volunteered to help with the Equine Assisted Learning Program. Tom was also an avid Winnipeg Jets fan. He enjoyed going to the Regina Pats games, he loved watching the NFL and being a part of an NFL football pool. These are the things Tom did and loved. But it’s who he was that that will leave us all with so many treasured memories. Tom could make anyone feel at ease with his endearing personality. He was funny and quick-witted, helpful and kind, caring and compassionate and above all else, loving and devoted to family and friends. Tom made you feel like you were his best friend. He just had a special way that warmed the hearts of all who knew him. Simply put, Tom was a wonderful man who had incredible pride and joy for his family and sincere affection for his friends. He will be dearly missed.
