July 31, 1953 – August 7, 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Thomas Coates, age 73 years, on August 7, 2026. He was born on July 31, 1953, and spent his entire life in the Hamlet of MacDowall except for short periods of working away from home.  He married the love of his life, Martie, but their time together was way too short, due to her passing. Tom spent the remainder of his life waiting for the time he could once again be with his love.

Tom worked in road construction and for the Hamlet of MacDowall.  He loved his annual visits to Fort Carlton to celebrate his birthday, and he enjoyed spending his spare time driving around MacDowall, seeing how many deer he could see and any other animals that passed his way.  Tom collected pens and keychains from all over and received many as gifts from friends. Although Tom had some health problems, he managed to live life his way.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Martie; father Pryce; mother Nettie; older brother Edward; 2 half-brothers; and brother-in-law Rick. He will be sadly missed by his brother Ivan; sister Elsie; nephew Tim; a niece through marriage, Sheri; and many friends.
