Therese was born in Duck Lake, Sask. After her dad died when she was nine years old, her mom and 6 kids moved to Victoire, Sask. Her mom had family there that could help her out. Mom went to school in Victoire and eventually quit after grade 9 and went out to work. She worked as a nurses aid in Tisdale hospital and also at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert. Mom quit that job to move back to Laventure and help her mom who had remarried a farmer, Joe Turgeon, with a large family. This is where she met her husband Bill. Together, mom and dad farmed. She had a large garden, milked cows, butchered chickens in the fall and fed the pigs. There were trips to town to bring the cream to the station, also delivered milk, cream, eggs and chickens to her customers. She was a hard worker, side by side in the field with dad. In the winter, a neighbor fed their cows and mom and dad went out to work in the bush. Here she cooked for up to 125 men. When she retired from the farm, mom worked for many years for Soup and Such with Mag Szabo. The 2 of them became close friends. Mom taught 4-H sewing, as well as teaching anyone who wanted to learn crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed to travel when she could. A yearly trip to Monique’s was important to her. She enjoyed dispatching for the ambulance and worked with Ed and Delores at the funeral home. Therese could be opinionated, but she had a good heart and would help out anyone. Her last few years were spent in Rabbit Lake and in Spiritwood at the long term facility. She has left many memories which will be remembered for a very long time.
