It is with great sadness that we, the family of Thérèse Dion, announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and Aunt on September 25, 2013 in Prince Albert.
Thérèse was born in Blaine Lake, SK. Her family settled in Prince Albert where Mom attended Osborne School. She married George Lavoie and raised their three children in Prince Albert. Mon and Dad enjoyed many years of entertaining family and friends at their cottage in Waskesiu and later at Emma Lake. They travelled extensively, including a tour of Europe and most of our provinces. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing, golfing, gardening and knitting, and was a life member of Sacred Heart CWL. Mom worked at Craig’s Department Store until she retired. She was well-known in the Prince Albert area for her sewing skills in drapery. Dad passed away in 1981 and Mom later met and married Harvey Dion. They then moved to Nanaimo, BC, and resided there for twenty years until illness made it necessary for Mom to return to Prince Albert and live in the Kopera Care Home, then to Pineview Terrace Lodge. Thérèse was predeceased by her first husband George Lavoie, her mother and father Oliver and Amanda Lamontagne, and her brothers and sisters. Thérèse was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. She will forever be remembered by her three children: Irene (Mervin) Lewis of Courtenay, BC; Juliette Telfer (John Deschuymer); and Ernest Lavoie (Cathé Little) of Edmonton, AB; her five grandchildren Neil, Tricia, Scott, Kristopher, Regan; her nine great-grandchildren Shawn, Steven, Amanda, Finnigan, Logan, Jacob, Logan, Keira, Katie; her husband Harvey Dion, four step-daughters and their families all of BC. Celebration of Life will take place at River Park Memorial Chapel at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2013 with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. We would like to acknowledge the kindness and care given to Mom at Kopera Care Home and by all the nurses, doctors and caregivers at Pineview Terrace Lodge. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Prince Albert, SK 306-764-2727, Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
