In Loving Memory of Terrance “Terry” Joseph Leeb

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terrance “Terry” Joseph Leeb on August 30^th, 2026. He was born October 26^th, 1947, in Killam, AB, to Laddie and Vera Leeb.

Terry grew up on the family farm with his five siblings. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work, spending his days helping with chores, caring for the animals, and enjoying hunting.

As a young man, Terry became a journeyman carpenter. His career took him throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. It was during his time in British Columbia that he met his wife, Sonya. They married and settled in Edmonton, where they began their family. Eventually, Terry and Sonya moved to Prince Albert, where they continued to build their life and raise their family.  Terry began a new chapter in his career at SIAST, where he became a first-year carpentry instructor. He was proud of his trade and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skills with others.

Once retired, Terry had more time to enjoy the things he loved. He took great pride in his meticulously manicured yard. He loved working with his hands and taking on projects.  Over the years, he created countless beautiful pieces of furniture. He loved taking an idea and turning it into something useful.

One of Terry’s greatest projects was building the retirement home that he and Sonya would enjoy at Candle Lake. For 35 years, Candle Lake was a cherished part of their lives. Terry loved the lake deeply; it was the most peaceful place on earth. The home was a place filled with decades of memories, laughter, family gatherings, and quiet moments together. Even when the years made it harder for him to do the work himself, he happily took on the role of Foreman, often pointing out how something could be done better or more efficiently.

Terry never missed his kids’ hockey games or sporting events. He always showed up for his family. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially his favorite teams: the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Raptors and the Edmonton Oilers. He always knew the scores and latest sports news.  He was generous with his knowledge and patient in sharing what he knew. He always had time for a phone call if you needed advice on how to build, fix, or figure something out.  Terry was quiet, patient and reserved. He didn’t need many words to show how much he cared. His love was found in the things he did, the projects he built, the advice he gave, the games he attended, the perfectly cut lawn, and the ways he showed up for family.

Nothing brought Terry more joy than his grandchildren. When his grandkids were around, it was as though a little more life came into him. Their visits, their laughter, and simply having them near brought him a happiness that was unmistakable. Terry’s greatest legacy will always be his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sonya, and their children: Justin Leeb, and his children, Dominic, Kenzie, and Jax; and their mother Ashlee; Ashley (Mike) Favreau and their children, Nash, and Remi; Jordan (Leslie) Leeb, and their children, Cohen and Bennett; and his daughter Shelly Leeb.

Terry will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings and extended family, including his brother, Kelly (Jacquie) Leeb ; sister, Trudy Leeb; sister, Holly (Bill) Kenneth; sister-in-law, Carol (John) Gross; brother-in-law, Wally Bazowski; sister-in-law, Ethel Hawryluk; and his numerous nieces and nephews.  Terry was predeceased by his parents, Laddie and Vera Leeb; his brothers, Patrick and Hugh Leeb; parents-in-law, Olga and Paul Hawryluk; sisters-in-law, Diane Bazowski and Bonnie Hawryluk; and, brother-in-law, Irwin Hawryluk.

When we think of Terry, picture him at Candle Lake, the place he loved the most, where there is a perfectly organized garage, a beautifully cut lawn, and Terry watching over everything quietly making sure it’s all done just right.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
