It is with extreme sadness that the family of Steve Simon announce his sudden passing on March 5, 2023 at the age of 89 years. Steve and Julie had been living in Saskatoon since 2018.
He leaves to cherish his memory, His beloved wife of 63 years, Julie, his daughter Shelly (Norman), son Chris (Diane), son Stuart (Valerie), daughter Cindy (Nadine) . He was predeceased by his daughter Kerry in January 2013.
He also has granddaughters Kelli, Alexandra and Megan; grandsons Colin, Steven, Michael and Jacob. Steve was also blessed to have great grandsons Jack, Griffin and Jesse.
Steve was born and raised in the Spiritwood area on November 13, 1933. As a young man he actively engaged in many sports, most notably baseball and hockey. He particularly loved the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Mapleleafs. He was also a very proud original member of the Knights of Columbus.
Steve met his wife Julie while living in Spiritwood where she ran a restaurant with her sister Beatrice. Steve and Julie were married on November 30, 1959 and immediately began working on a family. Steve and Julie made a very happy and successful living in Spiritwood by him operating the Imperial Esso, working with Dave Senum of Sterling Concrete, Boris and Doris Sidoruk of the Harvest House, and Guy, Jerry and Larry Houle at Guy’s Furniture, before ending his career with Boris Sidoruk travelling across the prairies selling farm aerial photographs.
We will miss Steve’s presence and guidance so very much in our lives. He was an honest, disciplined, soft spoken true gentleman. Those who knew him loved, admired and respected him in the community.
A memorial service for Steve will be celebrated April 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood. Interment will take place in the Spiritwood Cemetery.
