Steve Kuchirka late of Prince Albert. Peacefully with family by his side, Dad entered into heaven to be with the Lord on April 4, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Steve was predeceased by his wife Ann and son Terrance. Steve leaves to cherish his memory his four children: daughter Gladys (Bob); sons: Stephen (Beverley), Garry (Terri) and Dennis (Lenore); twelve grandchildren: Cheryl (Dan), Warren, Steven (Natasha), Aaron (Nicole), Darcy, Cody (Giselle), Derek, Jason (Tammy), Michael, Britney, Tricia, and Kyle; great-grandchildren Kristen, Kendra, Alicia, Braden, Tristen, Jolie, Makaylah, and Jase; great great-grandson Liam. Also lovingly remembered by his brothers; John (Helen), Mike (Delores) and Bill; his sisters: Molly, Mary and Alice; his sister in laws: Shirley and Verna; his brother in law: Mike; as well as many nieces, nephews and many special friends. Dad was born in the Ukraine on Dec 17, 1920 and immigrated to Canada when he was six years old with his parents and younger brother John. The family settled in Shipman, SK area where Dad spent his early years working on the family farm. After spending 3 years in the Canadian Army, Dad returned home. In 1946 he fell in love with Ann Kalyn. Marriage and family followed. They started their own farm at Shipman where through good times and bad they raised their family. Dad was very active in his community; with his carpentry skills he led a crew to build the Greek Orthodox Church and Hall. He also built many homes in the area. Dad spent 24 years as a counsellor for the R.M. of Torch River helping to build the infrastructure of the municipality. He felt his greatest accomplishment was his commitment to his family. His love, his generosity and his willingness to help will always be remembered. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Surkan and staff as well as Pat, Renee, Marilyn and the entire staff of Good Shepherd Villas. In lieu of floral tributes, donations in Dad’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 54-11th St East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. A Funeral Service will be on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 305-6th St E., Prince Albert.
