Stella Mazurkewich

It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Jean Mazurkewich, announce her passing on Friday, April 3, 2020 at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Stella is survived by her loving partner, Glen Sorensen; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Diane Mazurkewich; her aunt and uncle, Elsie and Garry Czychowski; Glen’s children, Dan (Debbie) Sorensen, Laurie (Shane) Sorensen, Tony (Nici) Sorensen, Stephanie Sorensen; Glen’s Siblings: Dorothy Goulden, Wanda Christianson, Norma (Lyle) Beaulieu, Faye (John) MacLeod, Robert (Pat) Sorensen; Friend, Lillian Klamot. She was predeceased by, her parents, Anne and Albert Mazurkewich; her grandparents, Mike and Nellie Mazurkewich and Steve and Tillie Moskaluk. Stella was born on Friday, April 17, 1953, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and lived in Henribourg where her family owned and operated Zurks Hotel. They later moved to Prince Albert, then to White Fox (Zurks Hotel). She attended White Fox School and L.P. Miller High School (class of ‘72) in Nipawin, finally moving back to Prince Albert. While in Prince Albert, Stella worked at a few places including The Villa and the Avenue Hotel, as a waitress. She later worked at Bingo Gardens as a supervisor, the Fort a la Corne Diamond Mine and finally, Zellers Lunch Counter. Stella had a soft nature and warm heart. She enjoyed long walks with Glen, travelling to new sights, taking great care of her yard and planting flowers. Stella was especially kind and loving to many animals and cats her and Glen took in and nursed back to health. As a teenager she had a horse named Misty that she rode in barrel racing competitions. Stella passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s hospital in Saskatoon, after complications due to a difficult operation. Her beautiful presence will be missed by many, most especially by her best friend and loving companion Glen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prince Albert SPCA. One of Stella’s favorite songs was Why Me by Kris Kristofferson. Service will be held at a later date.
