It is with profound sadness that the family of Stanley Pompu announces his passing on January 26, 2021 in Prince Albert at the age of 84.  Stanley was born on June 9, 1936 near Leask,Saskatchewan.  Stanley was a “very special man” who overcame many mental and physical challenges in life.  He worked at various jobs around Leask as a Grain Buyer’s helper and as a farm hand. After Stanley’s parents passed away, Laura and Wilfrid Brad gave him a home on their farm west of Leask. That would become his home for the next forty years. Stan was an avid gardener, pool player, fisherman and television movie and sports enthusiast.  His greatest joy was visiting with his brothers and sisters, and their families, while sharing a good meal.

Stanley was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore and Antonia Pompu; his siblings, Lena (Nick) Chupiuk, Laura (Wilfrid) Brad, Victoria (Andrew) Bonin, Carl (Eleanor) Pompu,  Theodore Pompu Jr., Walter (Caroline) Pompu, Edward Pompu, Ann Dortman, Violet (Sam) Amoroso; and his sisters-in-law,  Alyce Pompu and Marlene Pompu.

Stanley is survived by: his brothers, Andrew Pompu and Arthur Pompu, both of Trail, B.C.; as well as many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada.

In his later years, Stanley made Herb Bassett his final and much beloved home.  Stanley was a (well known) resident of Herb Bassett.

Stan’s family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the Herb Bassett Home for the kindness and the loving care that they showed Stanley over the last twelve years.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Stanley’s Life will be held at a later date, possibly in late spring or summer of 2021.
