Stanley Ian Joe Bird

March 8, 1947 – August 10, 2019

The family of Stanley Ian Bird sadly announce that he passed away on August 10, 2019 at age 72. He was born to George and Olive (nee: Ahenakew) Bird on March 8, 1947. He is missed by his siblings, nieces and nephews.

Ian Joe is lovingly remembered by: his brothers, Glen (Dorothy) Bird, Arthur (Cheryl Bird, Erice Bird and Spencer Bird; his sisters, Wilna Nesland, Wanda Bird, Esther Bird and Lela Kay (Darcy) Bird; his sisters-in-law, Cathy Williams and Brenda Bird as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is predeceased by: his parents, George SR and Olive Bird; his brothers, Gustave, George, Douglas, Russel (Charlie), Byron, Eldon, Ebert, Leon and Aubrey Bird; his sisters, Mary Ahenakew, Irene Blais and Alva Badger; his sisters-in-law, Virginia and Darlene Bird; his brothers-in-law, Carl Nesland and Albert Badger; his grandparents, Adam and Margaret (nee: Isbister) Ahenakew and John and Mary (nee: Morin) Bird; his aunties and uncles, Sarah Sasakamoose, Nancy Ahenakew, Caroline Sanderson, Annie Ahenakew, Bertha Ahenakew, Maria Isbister, Catherine Ahdemar, Peter Bird and Lance Ahenakew; his nieces, Audrey, Marie and Rhonda Bird and Louise Ahenakew; his nephews, Eldon, Randy, Sky and Christian Bird.

The wake service began at 5:00PM on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Ahtahkakoop First Nation Band Hall. The funeral service commenced at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the same location with Alex Sasakamoose officiating. The eulogy was presented by Glen Bird and music was provided by the Ahtahkakoop choir.  Honorary pallbearers were all who knew and loved Ian Joe. Active pallbearers were Forrest Bird, Earl Starblanket, Jesse Masuskapoe, Leslie Ledoux, Brett Bird and Wayne Lachance. The interment followed in St. Mark’s Anglican Cemetery.
