Sophie Sapchuk

Mrs. Sophie Sapchuk, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away in Prince Albert at the age of 99 years. Sophie was born in Blaine Lake, SK on July 7, 1913 to Wasyl and Anna Pronych. She married Dymtro Sapchuk on February 11, 1932 and settled in Krydor district. In 1945 they moved to Davis district. Her husband passed away June 16, 1991. Mrs. Sapchuk enjoyed the outdoors and especially farming, remaining very active on the farm until her husband passed away. She was an ardent member of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Prince Albert, SK. Mrs. Sapchuk will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Polley (Joe) Kardos of Prince Albert, SK, Ann Rodney of Winchester, ON and Olga (Walter) Dmytrisin of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren: Chris (Krystal) Rodney and their children Jamie,Shane and Jesse, Richard (Debby) Rodney and their daughter Raechel, Katherine Dmytrisin and Danny Dmytrisin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Dymtro; her daughter Mary (Joe) Wingert; her son-in-law Fred Rodney; her parents Wasyl and Anna Pronych; her brothers: Metro, Mike, Bill and John; her sisters: Polly Rodwin, Elana “Helen” Roschuk and Helen Haleschuk; her brothers-in-law: Bill Roschuk, Peter Rodwin and Mike Haleschuk; her sisters-in-law: Jennie Pronych and Nellie Pronych and her cousin Andrew Pronych. Funeral Prayers will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 7:30 pm at Mackenzie Chapel. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Thursday, November 8, 2012, 10:00 am, with Father Kostiuk officiating.
