Sonja Malena-Jansson
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sonja Malena-Jansson on November 8, 2014. Sonja was born in Prince Albert in 1931 and grew up on a farm near Shellbrook, SK. She moved to Prince Albert to attend business college in 1948 and married Albert Malena in 1950. She raised four children and also became a successful realtor in Prince Albert, retiring when Albert died in 1987. In 1997 she married Rolf Jansson. They lived at Emma Lake and in 2002 moved to a retirement community in Saskatoon. Sonja was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and in 2012 they moved to a care home in Regina. Sonja is loved by her husband Rolf, her four children Connie, Cal, Candy and Carmen, her many grandchildren as well as many dear friends. Sonja will be remembered for her energy and drive. In addition to her family, Sonja was devoted to God, to First Baptist Church, to the NDP party, to her wiener dog Oscar Meyer, and to making far more food than anyone could eat. All who knew her grieve her passing, but rest assured that she is with her Lord. A Memorial Service was held in Regina on November 15. An Interment Service, to be held in Prince Albert, will be announced at a later date.
