Sister Thérèse Tétreault
(December 19, 1927 – September 23, 2011)
Sister Thérèse Tétreault (Sister Edith-Marie) of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the age of 84 in the Provincial House Infirmary in Prince Albert, SK.
Sister Thérèse is survived by three brothers: Leonard (Marguerite Martin), Stanilas (Clara Brons) and Louis (Gladys Barlo); one sister-in-law Florence Lefèbvre; numerous nieces and nephews and Members of her religious community. She was predeceased by: her parents Felix Hormidas Tétreault and Marie Eliza (Brodeur); three sisters Agnes Réhaume, Cécile Gohm and Elizabeth Casey; three brothers Laurent, Gérard and Bernard; three brothers-in-law Lawrence Casey, Howard Gohm and Gordon Réhaume.
The Vigil of Prayer was held from the Provincial House Chapel, 1405 Bishop Pascal Place on Monday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from Provincial House Chapel on Tuesday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m. by Bishop Emeritus Blaise Morand.
Sister Thérèse was born in St. Brieux on December 19th, 1927, the last one born of a family of ten children. Sister Thérèse always desired to be a teacher. In July 1946 she joined the teaching congregation of The Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. She taught for a total of 33 years in various places: Academy Presentation of Mary, St. Joseph School and St. Mary’s High School in Prince Albert, Debden, Marcelin, Spiritwood, Makwa, Bellevue in Saskatchewan and Laurier, Manitoba.
Sister Thérèse was an excellent teacher of English and a dedicated teacher of the faith. When she retired from teaching, she devoted her time to the culinary skills, conducting church choirs, at times accompanying on the organ and giving piano lessons. As her health was failing, Sister Thérèse took her retirement at the Provincial House in 2005.
Sister Thérèse will be remembered for her profound fidelity to prayer and her sincerity in the service of God. Interment will take place in the Sisters’ Section at South Hill Cemetery.
