Sister Simone Perret (Ste-Marie-de-Galilée) of the Sisters of the Presentation passed away on Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 at the age of 92 in the Provincial House Infirmary at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK. Prayer service will be held from the Chapel of the Provincial House Chapel on Sunday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from this same chapel on Monday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. by Bishop Emeritus Blaise Morand. She is survived by one sister, Aline Perret-Vallée, and two brothers Léonard et Antoine (Irene Loenhdorf) and a sister-in-law Marie a DeFaye (Perret). Sister was born on December 10, 1917 in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, the third of a family of twelve children. She received her education with the Sisters of the Presentation. After high school Sr. Simone stayed home to help the family. During her free time she studied French, violin and harmony at the convent. Her love of reading, writing and of music date back to her education at home. In 1939 she joined the Sisters of the Presentation. The teaching positions she held in Debden, Bellevue, Prince Albert, Cudworth and Spiritwood, SK, in Le Pas and Laurier, MB, gave her joy and her methods spoke of marked creativity. She was commissioned to pilot the new French program: “J'écoute; je parle” and worked at curriculum development for the Department of Education. After retirement in 1975, sister used her skills, talents and energy in religious education and in care for the residents at the sisters' facility in Winnipeg. Only in 1986 did she come to the Provincial House to continue writing and translating. Her love of French inspired the creation of a French course. Music has always been an important part of her life and in her retirement one frequently heard Sister practising violin. Another life-giving activity for Sr. Simone was her involvement with liturgical ministry at Holy Family Hospital. Sister Simone will be remembered for her great devotion to the needy and her deep spirit of prayer and adoration. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Louise Robert and Phil Fredette – Funeral Directors, RIVER PARK MEMORIAL CHAPEL. 764-2727
