Simone Gareau nee Boscher passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side, at Mont St. Joseph’s Home in Prince Albert, SK, on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the age of 95 years. Simone
was an only child therefore all her cousins were like siblings & she stayed in touch with most of them all her life. Living at the convent for 12 years, she received an education in both French and English. Simone was thankful and grateful to the Daughters of Providence. She earned a teacher’s certification in Saskatoon and taught school in Prud’homme, Bellevue, Hoey & St. Louis. Simone took good care of her grandparents & parents. She married Guy Gareau on her 24th birthday. Simone and Guy had 2 girls and lived in a one-room house and later in a teacherage by Gaudet School in Bellevue. They then moved to St. Louis to work and build a new home. Simone loved God, her family, people & travel. She had many special friends & loved all her students. She
became a librarian and was a good listener. Many students appreciated her counsel. She always supported her community & parish. Simone leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughters Rose-Marie (John) Carey and Stella (Robert) Gentil-Perret; her grandchildren: Christine (Scott) Hamilton, Melodie (Tom) Edwards, Roberta (Orville) Sinclair, Jonathan (Nicole) Carey, Annette (Ryan) Benard, Roger Gentil-Perret, Danielle (Brett) Carlson and Arman (Brigitte) Gentil-Perret; her great grandchildren: Chantal, Hunter, Emma, Logan, Colin, Katrina, Alyssa, Joel, Rachel, Jack, Carter, Chloe, Kaiya, Emilie, Elias, Willow, Cooper, Megan, Sarah, Kolby, Kaleah & Kenza; her sister-in-law Lucy Nickel; her brother-in-law Denis Lajeunesse; as well as many cousins, nieces & nephews and many friends. Simone was predeceased by her parents Jean & Gabrielle (Huet) Boscher, her granddaughter in infancy Stella Marie Gentil-Perret; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Imelda Gareau, Donat (Claire) Gareau, Conrad (Laurence) Gareau, Gilbert (Alberte) Gareau, Jean-Paul (Gabrielle) Gareau, Bruno Gareau, Sylvianne (Alain) Gaudet, Rachel (Greg) Bremner, Rosemonde Lajeunesse & Doug Nickel. The Prayer Vigil will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Mont St. Joseph Home, 777 – 28th Street E, Prince Albert, SK. Led by Rev. Fr. DJ. Vu. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:30 at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, St. Louis, Saskatchewan with Rev. Fr. Phong Tran as celebrant. A private Interment of the Urn will take at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Simone may be directed to the Mont St. Joseph Foundation.
