Mr. Sidney De Vries, age 89, of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011. The late Mr. De Vries is survived by his loving family: his sons Gordon (Ann), Garry (Joan) and Martin; his sister Nellie Miller; his brother-in-law Charles Squires; his sisters-in-law Marion Emery and Kathy Atkinson; many step-children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st wife Dolly; his 2nd wife Elsie; his parents Martinus and Winnie; his sister Gertrude; his brother Martinius; his daughter-in-law Doris; his brothers-in-law Cliff Atkinson and Bill Emery. Sidney was born on July 7, 1921 in Prince Albert and received his schooling at the Colleston School # 9. He married Dolly Emery on October 22, 1942 and together they enjoyed farming and raising three sons. Hard times struck so over the years he worked at Saskatchewan Timber Board, PA Stockyards and PA Forest Products. He was very involved and served on the school board, telephone company, Wheat Pool and community hall. He retired on our farm home and served with the Senior Citizens on the Prince Albert S.S.A.I. # 4 board. He enjoyed Raider hockey games, old-tyme dancing, camping and travelling in Canada. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Tony Thompson will officiate. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
