Thorstensen, Shirley (December 7, 1932) It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Martha Thorstensen of Prince Albert announces her passing. At the age of 80 years, Shirley passed away on Saturday May 11, 2013 at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Shirley is survived by her sister Dora Cowie; her nephew Brent Cowie and his children Nick (Diane) and Curtis of Prince Albert; her niece Brenda (Lloyd) Osten of Regina, SK; her sister in law Cathy VanBuskirk, her twin nieces Melissa (Shawn) Remus, and Melanie (Alan) Webster, her nephew Arnie (Janet) Thorstensen and his two sons Carter and Cash all from Saskatoon; her niece Marlene (Leonard) Gobeil and their children Brandon, Matthew, Jesse, Marlissa, and Angelica from Prince Albert. Shirley is predeceased by her father Oscar, her mother Elfie, her sister Ruth, and her brother Arnold. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Day Centre in Prince Albert, the many Doctors and Nurses who helped Shirley and especially Dr. J Pfeifer of Saskatoon. A family memorial in honour of Shirley will be held at a later date. It is the family’s request that those preferring to place memorials in lieu of other tributes may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society.
