Shirley Solange Eskes (Sauve) was born in Duck Lake, SK on March 20, 1938.  Shirley was the fourth youngest of 14 and left home at the age of 15 where she found work at the Airway’s restaurant.  This is where she met Dad; they eloped and had five children in Buckland.  Mom passed away twelve days after being diagnosed with cancer in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 76 years old.  Mom was never short on teaching us the things that she valued, things such as hard work, trustworthiness, being thankful for the little things and to put one foot in front of the other when you are down.  We didn’t always like the repeated lessons; however we love her now for it.  Mom’s love was her family and her acreage in Buckland.  Putting up many a meal for everyone who frequented Hilltop Haven, their acreage.  Her lasagna, turkey supper and stuffing were famous and we could all go on about her food.  The mitts and afghans she knitted have ended up in countries as far as Russia and Estonia and she slept better at night knowing she was keeping someone warm.  Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bill Eskes in 1997.  She is survived by her five children Brenda (Lawrence) Desjardins & their children Jennifer, Krista (Robbie) and Grant (Chelsey); Barb (Del) Herron & their children Chris (Shauna) and Blaine (Diana); Billy (Sherry) Eskes & their children Jody and Eric; Brett (Lenore) Eskes & their children Brett Jr (Shelby) and Sarah Beth; Bonnie (Tom) Woods & their children Alexa (Brodie), Justine and Nicholas; her beloved great grandchildren Brooke, Jayden, Noah, Josh, Kelsey, Jordan, Jaxon and Asia.  Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Billy Eskes officiating.  Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200 – 24^th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
