In Loving Memory of Shelly Lambie (Lasante)
It is with profound sadness that the family of Shelly Lambie (née Lasante) announces her unexpected passing on June 12, 2026, in Shellbrook, SK. Born on May 22, 1963, in Saskatoon, SK, Shelly lived a life centered on family, friendship, and creating lasting memories with the people she loved most.
On April 17, 1982, she married Scott Lambie, her husband and partner of 44 years. Together they built a life filled with travel, laughter, and unwavering support for their family.
She leaves behind her husband, Scott; her daughter, Kristen Sommerfeld (Cody); her son, Craig Lambie (Jen); and her grandson, Maverick. Being a full time Grandma was one of her greatest joys. Whether at the ball diamond, rink, gym, or wherever he happened to be playing, she loved cheering him on and was proud of every accomplishment, big or small.
She is also remembered by her brother, Mike Lasante (Karen); brothers-in-law Brian Lambie (Cheryl), Robin Lambie (Cheryl), and Wayne Lambie (Wendy); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends across Canada.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roger and Betty Lasante; and by her parents-in-law, Bob and Dot Lambie.
Those who knew Shelly knew there was a good chance she would strike up a conversation with just about anyone as she knew so many from her days working at the Emerald Casino and Costco. Her friendly nature and warm smile made people feel welcome, whether they had known her for years or had just met her. She never missed an opportunity to meet friends for coffee and enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending time with those she cared about.
One of Shelly’s favourite things was Christmas. She loved handing out candy canes and giving interviews to local news channels about her and Scott’s Clinkskill Christmas lights display, which earned her the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in recognition of her community service.
She loved travelling and creating memories with those closest to her. Some of her favourite destinations included Deadwood, Barbados, Disneyworld and the Cook Islands.
She was known for her thoughtful gifts and family traditions, including her long-running habit of giving her nephew Brett socks, a tradition that became a source of laughter and affection over the years.
Above all, Shelly loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her kindness, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though her passing was unexpected, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the traditions she built will remain with her family and friends forever.
As per Shelly’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Shelly to the Parkland Pool Project.
